About Marian

Marian is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has her Master of Addictions Counseling certification through the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC). She graduated from IU Bloomington in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and began her career working with children and adolescents with developmental disorders. In 2008, she returned to IUPUI for her Master's Degree in Social Work to study Mental Health and Addictions.

 

Marian's previous work history includes community mental health and addictions, homelessness prevention/intervention, intensive outpatient and residential treatment, violence prevention, school, community, and home-based therapy. She worked for Community Health Network on the Psychiatric Consultation & Liaison team in acute care for 7 years prior to transitioning into private practice, consultation, and training full time.

She is a Motivational Interviewing Trainer for the Linda McClain Clinical Institute at Community Health Network, experienced in training mental health clinicians, counselors, health coaches, physicians, nurses, and others in Motivational Interviewing. She is a member of Star Behavioral Health Providers, a national network and registry of clinicians trained to provide high-quality therapy to US Service members. She was also a RISE (Resilience In Stressful Events) member for two years through Community Health Network, providing peer support after traumatic events.

She is a past Executive Board Member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Indianapolis), a member of the Center for Clinical Excellence, and the National Association of Social Workers. Marian is member of  the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and a member of the Inclusion & Diversity Advisory Committee within MINT. Marian is a member of the Association for Contextual and Behavioral Sciences (ACBS), a learning and research community for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and related approaches.
